A cleansing milk for face and eyes, rooted in the Greek olive grove.

ἐλαία, the olive tree. For centuries it has shaped life in Greece, from the groves of Attica to the islands of the Aegean. In ancient Greece, athletes and bathers cared for their skin with olive oil. Ariadne Athens begins there.

Angel Face Cleansing Milk is the first step of the evening ritual, a quiet pause at the end of the day. Its cream-textured milk melts over the skin and dissolves makeup and the traces of the day, including around the eyes. Remove it with a cotton pad and leave the formula to care for the skin, or rinse with lukewarm water for a lighter finish. Either way, the face is left soft, clean and comfortable.

The formula brings together the oils of the Mediterranean table and garden. Olive oil sits alongside sweet almond, safflower and castor oils, with shea and cocoa butter for a supple finish.

The science is modern. Two prebiotics, inulin and alpha-glucan oligosaccharide, help support the skin's natural balance. When the milk is left on the skin, they continue to work after cleansing. Glycerin and vitamin E add hydration and antioxidant care.

The scent is natural and light: soft cotton, with bergamot and lemon, like linen drying in the Aegean sun.

For all skin types. Morning and evening.

Dermatologically Tested.

Olive Oil

There once came a time in Ancient Greece when the first king of Athens, Cecrops, who was half human and half snake, had to find a patron deity for the city state of Athens. The two Olympian gods who were particularly interested in the patronage were Poseidon, the god of the Seas, and Athena, the goddess of Wisdom and Skill. They presented themselves in front of Cecrops and Cecrops asked them to offer a gift truly valuable for Athens. Poseidon came first: he struck the earth with his Trident and produced a fountain of sea water. As the water was salty, it was not considered to be a useful gift for the city. Next, it was the turn of goddess Athena. Athena stepped forward, struck her spear into the ground and then kneeled and planted an olive branch in it, which grew to become an olive tree, symbol of peace and prosperity on earth. Cecrops was very impressed by Athena’s gift and hence chose her as the city’s patron, which was named Athens in honor of the goddess.

Hero Ingredients

  • Olive oil: the oil of Greece, rich in nourishing fatty acids.
  • Sweet almond and safflower oils: dissolve makeup and impurities, and soften the skin.
  • Shea and cocoa butter: a supple, comfortable finish.
  • Inulin and alpha-glucan oligosaccharide: prebiotics that help support the skin's natural balance.
  • Glycerin and vitamin E: hydration and antioxidant care.

Under My Skin

Do I need to rinse off Angel Face Cleansing Milk?

No, it works both ways. Remove it with a cotton pad and leave the formula on the skin, so the olive and almond oils and the prebiotics continue to care for it. For a lighter finish, rinse with lukewarm water instead. Both leave the face clean, soft and comfortable.

Does it remove eye makeup?

Yes. The milk is formulated for the face and the eye area, and its blend of plant oils dissolves makeup, including mascara, on contact. Massage gently over closed eyes, then remove with a cotton pad. No separate eye makeup remover is needed.

Why olive oil for removing makeup?

The name says it:ελαίαis the olive tree, and olive oil is the heart of this cleansing milk. Most makeup, sunscreen and the skin's own sebum are oil-based, and oil dissolves oil, so olive oil lifts makeup gently, without scrubbing or stripping the skin. It is rich in oleic acid, which blends easily with makeup and sebum, and it naturally contains squalene and vitamin E, which leave the skin soft and supple rather than tight. In Greece, it has been used to cleanse and care for the skin since antiquity. The formula is 97% of natural origin (ISO 16128) and free from silicones, paraffin oil, colourants and soap.
