Wheat from the Windmills of Mykonos

Mykonos boasts 16 windmills, with seven iconic ones gracing the landmark hill in Chora. Initially constructed by the Venetians during the 16th century, their purpose was primarily to mill wheat, serving as a vital source of income for the island's inhabitants. Although construction extended into the early 20th century, their significance gradually waned over time, ceasing production by the mid-20th century. Characterized by a uniform architecture, these windmills feature a round shape, white exterior, pointed roofs, and petite windows, symbolizing both the island's heritage and its historical reliance on wind power for milling.

Hero Ingredients

Fuller’s earth: A naturally occurring clay that cleanses and tightens pores, reduces inflammation, kills bacteria and microbes, diminishes scars, whitens skin and offers a bright complexion.

White Kaolin: Penetrates pores and lifts dirt and excess sebum, therefore offering a deep cleansing to skin without drying it.

Rapeseed Extract: A natural skin whitening agent, with clinically proven efficacy on brightening skin color and age spots. This product is a patented skin-lightening active ingredient for cosmetic products. It is composed of fermented and hydrolyzed proteins extracted from the Brassicaceae family.

Shea Butter: It helps to lighten the skin, including vitamin A, vitamin E, and catechins. Vitamin A and vitamin E are both known for their antioxidant properties, which can help to reduce the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tone. Catechins are a type of flavonoid that can help to inhibit the production of melanin, which is the pigment that gives our skin its color. By inhibiting the production of melanin, catechins can help to lighten the skin and even out skin tone.

Under My Skin

What are age and sun spots and how do they form on the body?

Age spots, also known as liver spots or solar lentigines, are flat, brown, or black spots that typically appear on areas of the skin exposed to the sun, such as the face, hands, shoulders, and arms. These spots are more common in older adults, hence the name "age spots," although they can also develop in younger individuals due to prolonged sun exposure. Age spots form as a result of the skin's natural response to sun exposure over time. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun accelerates the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color, causing it to clump together in certain areas. This results in the formation of darker patches or spots on the skin, known as age spots. Additionally, age spots can be exacerbated by factors such as genetics, hormonal changes, and environmental pollutants. While age spots are generally harmless and do not require treatment, they can be unsightly and may prompt individuals to seek cosmetic solutions for their removal or reduction.

What are the properties and benefits of Rapeseed Extract in skin care?

Rapeseed Extract is a potent ingredient in skincare known for its skin-brightening properties. Derived from fermented and hydrolyzed proteins extracted from the Brassicaceae family, this extract serves as a natural skin whitening agent. It has clinically proven efficacy in brightening skin color and reducing age spots, making it an ideal addition to skincare formulations targeting uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation. Additionally, Rapeseed Extract contributes to a more even and radiant complexion, promoting a youthful and healthy appearance.
